Our Trip to the Artic (in our own school yard!)

Our three classrooms of Grade 3/4 students experienced the far north without leaving our grounds. Experiential teaching and exploring nature has always been a focus at Jack MacKenzie School and while the pandemic has provided some challenges to do this, the excellent resources and expertise of our Outdoor Education department provided a great learning opportunity.

An Arctic nature trail was set up around the school grounds and students had the opportunity to explore Arctic animals, Inuit culture, games and language. The weather was very co operative and the students greatly enjoyed the opportunity for hands on learning.  It was a great morning for all! A special thank you to Lori Milligan for her creativity and sharing of knowledge with our students.
