Where Effort and Kindness Count...Cambodia Fundraiser: The teachers and students of Jack Mackenzie School have once again joined with the University of Regina to help make a difference in the lives of school children in Cambodia.
It is our goal to improve the quality of education in Cambodia, as well as encourage our students to develop understanding, empathy, and the ability to take action to make a difference in the lives of less fortunate children. One of the themes at our school is Random Acts of Kindness. Being kind to others is something that our school community tries to reflect in the way we treat others. This is very important to Mr. MacKenzie who has established a charitable foundation to help support these types of initiatives. Last year our fund raising efforts were very successful. One hundred percent of the money raised was used to make a difference in the lives of school children in Cambodia. Backpacks filled with school supplies, school uniforms, shoes and health resource items were provided for 87 of the most needy students of Aknuwat Primary School. Money was also provided for classroom teachers to purchase classroom supplies needed to support the learning of the students.
On Wednesday, March 31 the students of Jack MacKenzie School will participate in an afternoon of skipping to raise funds for school children in Cambodia. We are hoping that parents will support their child’s efforts by DONATING to this worthy cause. Please send your DONATION to school before March 31. *Kindergarten to Grades 4 will be collecting straight donations.  Grades 5 to 8 will be collecting money (coins) to compete in a contest to see who can have the "heaviest" backpack filled with these coins.

Thank you for your assistance to help make this initiative a success.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

We are accepting registrations for Kindergarten students for the 2010 - 2011 school year. We offer a terrific program in a great school. If your child will be five by December 31, 2010, he/she is eligible to attend Kindergarten in the fall of 2010.

Please call the office at 791- 8585 to get information on how to register your child for the fall (September 2010) term.

In the spring we will be hosting Tours, Kindergarten Orientations, Activity Days and Parent Information Meetings.

For our current Jack MacKenzie parents, if you know of a family in the neighbourhood with a child of kindergarten age and no siblings attending Jack MacKenzie School, we would appreciate it if you would pass this information on to that family.

Just a reminder that our transportation boundaries changed last year and students north of Arens Road will not be transported to Jack MacKenzie School unless an older sibling has been grandfathered prior to this year.  All students are welcome to attend Jack MacKenzie School but if they live outside our transportation boundaries the family must provide transportation.
